Fairchild Controls Names Model Machine Company Of Baltimore, Maryland as its Supplier of the Year for 2007

June 17, 2008

A Baltimore, Maryland-based machine shop has been named Fairchild Controls’ 2007 Supplier of the Year, a distinction awarded for excellence in production and sourcing of parts used on the company’s full range of products – which are installed on military and civilian aircraft, combat ground vehicles and in other applications worldwide.”

Model Machine Company is a 28-employee operation in downtown Baltimore, and it has demonstrated performance well beyond the facility’s relatively small size. During 2007, Model Machine supplied $146,530 worth of goods to Fairchild Controls, with an overall supplier rating of 99.7 percent against a very challenging 100-point scale that measures quality, productivity, on-time delivery and service.

These numbers point to a great contractor, but the company’s accomplishments go well beyond its success as a supplier. John Wahlhaupter, the son of Model Machine’s founder Norman Wahlhaupter, has assisted Fairchild Controls’ buyers in sourcing certain “unobtainable” products – including assistance with numerous drawings for decades-old products produced by predecessor company Fairchild Stratos.

“Model Machine typifies the type of partner we need to build a truly integrated supply chain, where our suppliers and our internal employees work together to deliver value to our customers.” said Scott Selle, the President of Fairchild Controls. “We look forward to continuing our exceptional relationship in the future.”
