EADS Fairchild Controls was presented with the 2008-2009 “Spirit of Community Award” by the United Way of Frederick County. The award recognized the company's ongoing philanthropic contributions to the local community.
“The Spirit of Community Award is the premier recognition for a workplace giving campaign in Frederick County”, said Rick Weldon, President & CEO of United Way of Frederick County. “Scott, Rick and the whole team at Fairchild Controls have raised the bar on creativity, commitment, and sacrifice for others. Be it payroll donations in a tough economy, or turning out dozens of hard-working volunteers, Fairchild Controls employees have given new life to this worthy award.”
Employees of Fairchild Controls have contributed to United Way of Frederick for many years through a convenient payroll deduction process and the United Way’s annual charitable giving campaign. For the 2008-2009 campaign, Rick Gradoni, Manager of Financial Planning at Fairchild Controls, led fundraising efforts that resulted in employee and company matching contributions of over $58,000.
Employees also offered a helping hand to the community through their annual warm winter coat drive, homeless shelter food drives, and several other activities such as their Days of Caring volunteer work at a local family crisis shelter.
“The Days of Caring event was a great experience. We were really encouraged by the results, and we were all proud to work for a company that would match our own vacation time with paid time off for such an important cause"; said Gradoni.
Fairchild Controls president and CEO Scott Selle added "Our partnership with the United Way offers an efficient and productive channel to leverage our philanthropic contributions with other local corporations. Additionally, our workplace culture and morale benefits greatly when our employees see the impact we can have locally. It's a true win-win for Fairchild Controls and for the community".
