Metrology

We are committed to an ongoing continuous improvement and lean thinking that will produce a constant stream of new and enhanced applications for Fairchild Controls' product line. Our team is equally sensitive to the investment required to support the increasing demand for superior quality through Six Sigma methodologies and implementing process improvement projects within the Metrology laboratory.

Metrology management employs Six Sigma tools, facilitation and change management, and lead subject matter experts to increase customer satisfaction levels and business productivity. We understand that our internal and external customers are always the final judge of service quality.

The key element in process improvement is our customer. Hence, a Metrology focus group has been implemented to focus on customer satisfaction and eliminate process variation. Providing accurate measurement allows us to:

  • Maintain quality control during production processes
  • Comply with and enforce laws and regulations
  • Undertake research and development
  • Calibrate instruments and achieve traceability to a national measurement standard
  • Maintain and compare national and international measurement standards

Metrology System

Our comprehensive and automated Measurement Science system relies on the Met/Cal Calibration Management Software, a complete solution for automating calibration processes plus managing and reporting measurement assets.

The Fairchild Controls Metrology division is dedicated to the management and calibration of test measurement assets. Our Metrology process is an extremely secure system with data backed up daily and archived off-site to eliminate the possibility of records being lost or destroyed.

The utilization of bar-coding and digital record maintenance ensures a clear audit trail compliance for to: ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, ANS/ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.2, and ISO 10012. Our Metrology technicians use the following state-of-the-art tools and world class Metrology Lab standards:

  • Fluke 5720 Electrical Std. (World Class Electrical Standard)
  • Universal Laser LabMaster (World Class Dimensional Laser Standard)
  • Z-Mike Non-contact Laser
  • Druck DPI515 Pressure/Vacuum Standard
  • Yokogawa Power Analyzer
  • All Standards Traceable to N.I.S.T, equivalent National or International Standards

Laboratory Management and Technicians

Our Metrology Lab manager is an active member of the National Conference of Standards Laboratories International (NCSLI), National Institute of Standards and Technology (N.I.S.T), American Society for Quality (ASQ), and ElectroStatic Discharge Association (ESDA). We ensure measurement reliability with uncertainty budgets in a 20.0 Celsius +/- 1.0 degree C, laboratory.

Our knowledgeable and highly skilled laboratory technicians are trained and Certified Calibration Technicians (CCT) by the American Society for Quality (ASQ). They are capable of accurately reporting and analyzing measurements derived on all test equipment. Practical application is verified by rigorous training and testing in applicable measurement science disciplines.
