AFU Fan Controller
Fairchild Controls' designed and manufactures the FPGA Controller for the fan controller in the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV) air handling unit. The system manages the discrete inputs and outputs for pressure and temperature sensors.
EFV NBC
This nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) system on the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV) of the U.S. Marine Corp, contains a 2.8 kW variable speed fan controller that manages discrete inputs/outputs, boost to 350 VDC, and drives a brushless DC (BLDC) motor.
40 kW Motor Drive Unit (MDU)
This 40 kW controller drives the center line hose-drogue refueling pump on the Boeing KC-767 Tanker. The system was designed and manufactured for high reliability and efficiency. The MDU utilizes 3 phase AC input with near unity power factor. The output is variable speed with solid state electronics to provide accurate speed control via Field Oriented Control (FOC). This controller was developed using Matlab for Rapid Code Generation based on a Power PC processor. The housing is cast aluminum that utilizes liquid cooling.
Electronic Control Card
This is an analog controller discrete inputs/outputs speed sensor interface BIT with latching faults and servo valve output. The ECC utilizes an analog PID control algorithm for speed control resulting in reduction of overshoot conditions and smoother transitions for load changes. It is packaged for installation in a single avionics slot in the EE bay of the 767-400ER.
